Hyde Park Winter Wonderland Access Guide: Wheelchairs, Scooters and Pushchairs

Christmas market lights and carousel in London

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is step-free from every entrance and almost every attraction is wheelchair friendly, so with a little planning it is a great day out with a wheelchair, mobility scooter or pushchair. Here is what to know, taken from Winter Wonderland's own accessibility information and our experience as the nearest equipment hire shop.

Getting there

  • Step-free stations: Green Park (Victoria, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines), Victoria and Paddington all have step-free access. Green Park has lifts and is the easiest choice with a wheelchair or pushchair.
  • Avoid at peak times: Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch stations get very busy.
  • Buses and taxis: every London bus and black cab has space for one wheelchair user.
  • Accessible parking: the Triangle Car Park on West Carriage Drive has 6 disabled spaces, about 850 metres from the Green Gate on mostly flat tarmac paths. Bring your Blue Badge.

Entrances and getting around

  • All entrances are step-free along the park's tarmac paths.
  • Inside, the whole event sits on temporary trackway, which can feel uneven. Bigger wheels and good suspension make a real difference.
  • The Red Gate, the family entrance at the north of the site, is usually the quietest.
  • The Green, Gold, Blue and Red gates all have a signposted accessible queuing lane. Ask a member of staff for help.
  • The Blue Gate and Red Gate near Hyde Park Corner, and the Gold Gate at Marble Arch, can get very busy at peak times.
  • There are bag searches at every entrance, and the event has flashing lights, flash photography and music throughout.

Tickets for companions

If you need someone with you to attend, you can book a free Essential Companion ticket. You will need a +1 or +2 on an Access Card or a Winter Wonderland Digital Access Pass. Everyone in your party still needs an entry ticket, and booking online saves time at the gate.

Facilities inside

  • Every attraction except the Ice Slide is wheelchair friendly.
  • Accessible toilets are at all six main toilet blocks and behind the Bavarian Hall and the Fire Pit, plus two High Dependency Units with Changing Places facilities.
  • Accessible toilets use a RADAR key. If you do not have one, ask at a box office or information point.
  • A covered, heated quiet area with neutral lighting and no music is at the north of the site, near the family entrance.

Check Winter Wonderland's accessibility pages before you go, as details can change.

Hiring a wheelchair, scooter or pushchair for the day

Our shop at 19 Connaught Street is a 7-minute walk from the Marble Arch entrance. From 19 November to 3 January we offer special Winter Wonderland day rates: mobility aids (rollators, wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and scooters) from £15, and strollers from £21.

  • Click and collect: collect from 9am and return to the shop by 6pm in November, or by 8pm from 1 December.
  • Meet and greet (December only): we hand over and collect at the Marble Arch gate only, for £10 in total. Each handover has a 30-minute window, agreed by WhatsApp or text. The last collection window is 7:30pm to 8pm, and we leave at 8pm sharp.
  • Ready for the weather: rain covers and ponchos are available, and scooters and power chairs are handed over fully charged, as the cold shortens battery range a little.
  • Christmas: we are closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
